### Upcoming Meetings
**Thursday, February 14, Dolley Madison Library, 7:30 PM** Paul Mooney, K4KRE, will demonstrate his Low Cost Software Defined Radio as described in the AMRAD November-December 2012 newsletter. Paul cleverly combined free soundcard-based SDR software from Johan SM6LKH with a direct conversion front end from 40M to base-band audio. He will walk us through his design process, demonstrate operation (if propagation and QRM allows), and discuss enhancements.
### Recent Meetings
**Thursday, January 10 **Jim Veatch, WA2EUJ, twice winner of the ARRL Homebrew Challenge, told us about his projects including the 50 Watt Amplifier.
** Winter Book Exchange** Attendees to the January 10 meeting were invited to bring along manuals, text books, and the like to exchange. Some AMRAD members brought vintage books about Venerable Computers of Yesteryear, such as TRS-80s, IBM XT etc. Some happily went home with armfuls of new treasures, others, equally happy, left with empty bags. Very few items hit the dumpsters.
