I don't know whether to be proud to hear about the use of Morse, or to be
embarrassed that someone went to seas without means of communication.

Morse saves sailor’s life

Knowledge of Morse helped save a sailor’s life. The man was single-handedly
operating a 28ft boat off the coast of Hampshire when it started to take in
water. The man had no safety equipment on board because he had recently
transferred it all to a new boat. That meant he couldn’t use radio equipment
to contact the coast guard or launch a distress flare. However, by using his
torch to flash an SOS message in Morse code, he was able to attract the
attention of a member of a sailing club on land who proceeded to inform the
Coast Guard. An RNLI lifeboat brought the man and his boat back to shore,
where he was checked over by paramedics.
