AMRAD has a table at the Timonium Hamfest on March 31 and April 1. It
is in the Cow Palace. We can get out pass on Friday afternoon and set
up if we wish and the show opens on Saturday at 6AM.
I plan to set up our demo for the MiniVNA, the SDR-IQ and would like to
see Maitland and the USRP on 1.2 GHz. We should have an 8 foot by 8
foot space with 8 feet along the front for the display. This display
worked well at Winterfest.
I also have an outdoor flea market space and plan to bring my van up to
We will need AMRAD members to man the space in the Cow Palace on
Saturday and Sunday. The more members we have the more we can get out
and see the flea market etc.
Saturday is hectic and our display must tell the AMRAD story in one or
two glances. We need to grab the attention of technically minded hams
and explain why AMRAD is for them in only a few second. Many non-hams
will be cruising by and we can try to interest them in ham radio and
AMRAD but again on a technical basis but most will keep on cruising.
Sunday is typically more ham radio related and things are less hectic so
Sunday should give us a chance to talk to people more and encourage them
to join up with our efforts.
This will be our best chance of the year to reach the most potential
members as this fall's Gaithersburg hamfest has been canceled.
